Underwood, E and T | Convention | English | Half Plate

ENGLISH FIELD CAMERA. 1887. I bought this E&T Underwood's 'Convention' camera as a partial wreck in 2003. It looks better now than when I bought it. Starting as opticians and lens makers, Underwoods are first known as camera makers in 1885, but they possibly started earlier. They produced a wide range of models between 1880 and well into the 1890s, but seem to have disappeared by 1905. The 'Convention' was also available in whole and quarter plate sizes.
