ENGLISH FIELD CAMERA. 1890. Channing and Dunn, in 'British Camera Makers', have him in their Supplementary List, advertising in the 1890 British Journal Photographic Almanac, as Alexander Birnie, Photographic Apparatus Maker, 118 Perth Road, Dundee, Scotland, but they find no other references. First advertised in Dundee Street Directory as a cabinet maker, then as photographic apparatus maker in 1884. Born 1843, died 1920.
