Ross, London | Unnamed | English | Whole Plate

FIELD CAMERA. 1899. Ross traded as 'Ross & Co.' from 1871, became 'Ross Ltd' in 1898, and moved to Cockspur Street in 1899. This dovetail-jointed camera is marked simply 'Ross, London', but its case has the address 'Ross, 31 Cockspur Street, London SW'. It seems to me to be likely that this camera was an early one fromt he Cockspur Street address, before they began to use the 'Ltd' designation on their labels. It was broken when I received it, apparently having been dropped off its tripod at some stage. Now as restored as it needs to be without replacing any original wood work.
