Negretti & Zambra | Viadem | Other | Quarter Plate

FOLDING CAMERA. 1905-1919? Catalogued as made by Negretti & Zambra, a very highly regarded firm of scientific instrument makers from 1850 onwards, because they evidently thought it was of sufficient quality to have their name engraved upon it; but it is highly unlikely that they actually manufactured it. Many makers produced cameras to this general design from around 1905 right up to the late 1930s, so dating is difficult. The resemblance to some Contessa-Nettel cameras suggests that they may have manufactured and badged this 'Viadem' for Negretti & Zambra to retail.
