Thornton-Pickard | Focal Plane Shutter | Other | Quarter Plate

SHUTTER ONLY. 1908. A roller-blind type shutter to be fixed to the BACK of a plate camera, operating in the focal plane just in front of the plate. These could be bought from Thornton-Pickard as a separate item for retro-fitting to any camera. This 1908 improved Model 3 version has a sprung knob for altering the slit width, and can be operated by a cable release; or it could be if it were working. It is rare to find one of these in working order.
