Ensign Ltd | Ful-Vue I | Other | 120 Film

BOX CAMERA | 1938-9. Ensign Ltd., formed 1930, had not yet had any of their several later name changes when they made this first version in an evolving series of their Ful-Vue camera. It is a square-cornered, box-form, pseudo-reflex camera whose only distinguishing feature is a 4x4cm. viewfinder on top, which matches the 6x6cm. negatives, 12 of which it produced on 120 film. Not a true reflex camera, but the comfortable viewfinder is actually a significant step forward in the design of Ensign's box cameras, which hitherto had featured tiny reflective viewfinders that were very hit-and-miss in use.
