Standard Camera Co. | Conway Popular | Other | 120 Film

BOX CAMERA | 1950s. Standard Camera Co., makers of Conway cameras, were in business at 51, Mott Street, Birmingham, whilst Coronet traded from 310, Summer Lane, Birmingham. The literature assumes that Standard made only Conway cameras and Coronet made only Coronet cameras. Whereas McKeown (in "Cameras") assumes close links between the two firms, Channing & Dunn (in "British Camera Makers") were unable to establish a business connection between Coronet and Standard/Conway, and assumed them to be two separate businesses, connected only by sourcing parts and materials, some of which were interchangeable, from the same makers; but Coronet-Conway cameras do exist, suggesting closer business connections at some point.
